Comfort, Intensity, and Sensation

Choose a comfortable intensity and resolve strong, absent, or uneven sensations.

Comfort Principles

  • Use the lowest intensity that supports a comfortable experience.
  • Do not increase intensity to chase a stronger sensation.
  • Intensity should never be painful or distressing.

What You May Feel

Sensation varies from person to person and may become less noticeable with regular use. Feeling little or no sensation is not a reason to increase intensity beyond a comfortable level.

If the Sensation Feels Too Strong

  1. Press the minus (–) button to reduce intensity.
  2. Check clip placement and the amount of conductive gel.
  3. Remain still and breathe normally.
  4. Stop the session if discomfort continues.

If You Feel Little or No Sensation

  • Confirm that the green session indicator is pulsing.
  • Confirm that both clips contact clean, dry skin.
  • Reapply a small amount of conductive gel if needed.
  • Correct any red blinking contact warning.
  • Do not raise intensity beyond a comfortable setting.

If the Sensation Is Uneven

  1. Stop the session if needed.
  2. Remove both clips.
  3. Clean and dry both earlobes.
  4. Apply an equal amount of gel to both electrode contacts.
  5. Reattach the clips symmetrically.
  6. Restart at the lowest intensity.
